What We Do

Business Coaching for San Antonio Owners

Plenty of people start a business because they are excellent at the work. Far fewer were ever taught to read a balance sheet, price for margin, or plan a year.

Coaching closes that gap. It is not motivational — it is sitting down with your actual numbers until you can read them yourself and make decisions without needing to call anyone.

Who this is for

  • New owners who are strong at the craft and learning the business side
  • Owners who find their financial statements opaque or intimidating
  • Anyone setting goals for the year who wants them grounded in real numbers
  • Established businesses that have plateaued and cannot see why

Learning to read your own financials

A profit and loss statement, a balance sheet, and a cash flow statement each answer a different question. Most owners have only ever been shown the first one, and often only the bottom line of it.

We go through yours line by line until the story is legible — where the money comes from, where it goes, what is trending, and which numbers are worth watching monthly versus annually.

Goals with numbers attached

"Grow the business" is not a goal. "Add $180,000 in revenue at a 40% gross margin without adding a second location" is a goal, because you can tell whether it happened.

We work backwards from what you want to what it would actually require — in revenue, in capacity, in cash — and then check in against it.

Building habits that outlast the engagement

The point of coaching is to become unnecessary. That means putting a monthly review rhythm in place, agreeing on which handful of numbers you check, and making sure the bookkeeping underneath is reliable enough to trust.

Clients who stick with the rhythm generally stop needing the coaching within a year or two. That is the intended outcome.

Common questions

Is this the same as business advisory?
They overlap. Advisory is decision-by-decision support — you bring a question, we work the numbers. Coaching is a sustained engagement aimed at building your own capability. Owners often start with coaching and shift to advisory once they are confident.
Do you coach businesses outside your client base?
Yes, though it works best when we also see your books, because the conversation can start from real figures rather than recollection.
How long does a coaching engagement run?
Typically several months to a year. Long enough to get through a full cycle of seasons and a tax year, which is when most of the useful lessons surface.
